| It has been written down in the ˇ°History Records ˇ¤
Collected Biographies of Xiongnuˇ± that Yan built the Great Wall
from Zaoyang to Xiangping on the area of Shanggu, Yuyang, Youbeiping,
Liaoxi and Liaodong Regions in the Period of Warring States so as
to protect Hu nationality from invading. At that time, Benxi urban
area and Benxi County (the present realm for reference and the same
below) were located in the boundary of Xiangping of Yan Liaodong
Region. Huanren County (the present realm for reference and the
same below) was at the outside border of Yan Liaodong Region and
under jurisdiction of Gaoyi nationality.
