It has been famous for “Liao Wuwei” from the very beginning. Schisandra Chinensis is classified as medical plant and belongs to deciduous bejuco perennial of Magnoliaceae. It prefers fertile, humid and sunny environment with strong adaptation to survive. So, wild Schisandra Chinensis can be found twining around other trees as well as among dungarungas and bushes along the two banks of valley brooks and weedtrees. The eastern mountain areas of Liaoning such as Benxi County, Kuandian of Huanren County, Xinbing County, Qingyuan County and Xifeng County are rich in the resources of Schisandra Chinensis with largest yield. The fruit of Schisandra Chinensis can be used as medicine favored by the abundant content of benzene, sugar, malic acid and vitamin C. Great progress has been made on the manual cultivation of Schisandra Chinensis due to the limited wild resources in recent years. The spikes of fruit developed from manually cultivated Schisandra Chinensis are bigger and more well-rounded than that of wild ones. Before Frost’s Descent, fruits in purplish red are ready to be plucked. Then, it can be dried either in the sun or in the shade for further use as medicine.
